The D2-1 Visa is the official visa for international students pursuing a Vocational College program (Associate Degree) at licensed colleges and universities in Korea. The program is designed with an optimal training duration (2 to 3 years), focusing heavily on practical experience, helping students equip themselves with in-depth vocational skills right on campus.

Graduating with an internationally recognized vocational degree and solid Korean language skills, you will be sought after by employers in Korea. The roadmap to convert to a D10 Visa (Job Seeking) and subsequently an E7 Visa (Professional Labor) for long-term work and settlement is extremely open.

D2-1 VISA STUDY ROADMAP

Phase 1: Preparation in Vietnam
Learn Korean at IKA and take the TOPIK 2 exam (or equivalent) - a mandatory requirement to enter the Vocational College system directly. Simultaneously, IKA will complete the application and request an admission letter from the school in Korea.

Phase 2: Major Study in Korea
Lasting from 2 to 3 years depending on the major. Students will learn theory combined with in-depth practical skill hours at the school's workshops/laboratories. Notably, you will have direct internship periods at enterprises.

Phase 3: Graduation & Settlement
After graduating and receiving an Associate Degree, you are allowed to convert to a D10 Visa (extendable up to 2 years) to seek employment. Once officially contracted by a company, you will transition to an E7 Visa for long-term work and settlement.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To participate in the D2-1 Vocational College Study Abroad program, you need to meet the following basic criteria:

  • Academic: High school graduate or above. High school 3-year Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.0 or higher. Priority age from 18 - 25 years old (can be extended to 30 years old if holding a College/University degree in Vietnam).
  • Foreign Language: Minimum requirement of TOPIK 2 Korean language certificate (or Sejong depending on the school). If you don't have one, you can go under the D4-1 Visa to study the language first, then transfer to D2-1.
  • Legal & Health: No criminal record. Ensure good health, no tuberculosis. No illegal relatives in Korea.
  • Financial: Guarantor has a stable income. Savings book according to the regulations of the school and the Embassy (IKA will provide comprehensive consulting support for this profile).

COSTS & BENEFITS

Initial Investment Cost:
Total package costs range from 180 - 280 million VND. This cost typically includes: 6 months or 1 year of major tuition, 6 months of dormitory, airfare, admission fees, and comprehensive document processing service fees at IKA.

Outstanding Benefits:

  • Permitted to work part-time immediately: No need to wait 6 months like the D4-1 system. You are allowed to work part-time 25h/week during semesters and unlimited hours during holidays/weekends.
  • Participate in mandatory paid internships at enterprises, restaurants, and hotels affiliated with the school.
  • Opportunities to receive 30% - 100% tuition scholarships for subsequent semesters based on GPA achievements and TOPIK scores.

Mandatory Regulations: You must comply with part-time work hour regulations, maintain attendance rates, and achieve standard GPA scores to smoothly extend your Visa annually.
